About Us
Project Purpose: This compilation of resources is to train licensed dental professionals to recognize the opportunity and appropriately offer tobacco cessation services within the dental office and offer referrals for additional tobacco cessation support as needed.
Project Support: With the support of the Ohio Department of Medicaid, the Medicaid Technical Assistance and Policy Program, and the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resources (GRC), the Ohio State University: College of Dentistry, and the Case Western Reserve University: School of Dental Medicine partnered to develop and deliver training for Ohio dental health professionals on the provision of appropriate smoking cessation counseling and referral services to Medicaid beneficiaries using different forms of tobacco.

Dr. Lewis Claman, DDS, MS and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology is an Emeritus Associate Professor at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in Columbus Ohio. He received his Certificate in Periodontics and MS degree at Ohio State in 1974 and has been on the faculty since. | Bio

Catherine Demko, PhD
Catherine A. Demko, PhD is an Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University in the Department of Community Dentistry. Dr. Demko has been involved in both provider and patient behavior change projects and is the Lead Evaluator for Interprofessional Health Education at CWRU. | Bio

Denise Kissell, BSDH, EFDA, MPH
Denise Kissell is an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. She has been full-time faculty within the Division of Dental Hygiene since 2006, directing courses within the dental hygiene program, as well both the EFDA CE and Dental Hygiene EFDA programs. Ms. Kissell practices dental hygiene in the OSU Dental Faculty Practice and teaches continuing education courses for the College of Dentistry. | Bio
